Peaceful monk(ey)s and the dangerous man

leave a comment »

A lonely gentle man, injured and hungry, was with a group of monkeys in a jungle. The monkeys were worried. “I think the man is very dangerous. Right now, he is weak, but when he gets strong, he will kill us all”, said the older ones.

“I have no interests in harming any of you, I just wish to gather some food and to recover from my injuries, peacefully”, the man rebutted.

But the monkeys weren’t convinced. “Let’s see if that’s true”, said an old and small-shaped monkey while he threw a stone at the man. The man jinked aside and the stone missed him. “Well, that doesn’t prove anything since he got away from it”, said another one, throwing a stone at the man himself too. This time, it hit him on his arm. It hurt but didn’t quite harm.

Not interested in fighting against the monkeys, the man walked away quietly and minded his own business. The monkeys became only more nervous: “Why is he keeping himself away from us? We need more transparency to build mutual trust, or he will be definitely plotting against us!”

So a young and nimble monkey, eager to make a contribution to the community, said: “I’ll go figure it out.” He jumped right onto the man’s head and scratched.

This final move angered the man. He threw the monkey off, stood up and pulled himself in a position ready for fighting. His face was not nice, and with much anger, it could even be a bit ugly.

All of a sudden, all the monkeys were horrified. They jumped up and down and cried: “See? I knew from the beginning that the man was a dangerous beast. Look how ugly and violent he is. He’s full of the man-ism, and was all lying to us when he said he was kind!”

China’s view of Tibet

leave a comment »

From the blog of the New Voice, I was let to this article: China’s View of Tibet by Kishore Mahbubani — dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. Let me quote a small part:

… the Chinese recall that the latest efforts to separate Tibet from China came as recently as the 1940s and 1950s, when British and U.S. agents were seen to be encouraging Tibetan independence while the new People’s Republic was still weak. The Chinese also have powerful memories of Britain’s central role in the notorious opium trade of the 18th and 19th centuries, when European trading companies sold the drug to smugglers, then used the ill-gotten gold to buy silk, tea and porcelain.

The related Opium Wars, during which Hong Kong was seized by Britain, are a distant memory in Western minds but remain in the forefront of the Chinese psyche. When the West is seen to be trying to detach Chinese territory again, it rubs salt into this still-fresh wound. Virtually no Chinese believe that Western governments have a strictly moral interest in Tibet. …

Dalie (Dalai) Lama welcomed by protesters again, but wait, are they not Chinese?

with 3 comments

Dalai Lama spoke at Colgate University today. The topic was the “art of happiness”. Indoors there might have been a couple happy hours, the reality outside however was quite the opposite. Once again, Mr. Lama was accused of lying, by a group of angry people numbered around 500. This time, however, only around 50 where pro-China protesters, and the rest of them, mostly westerners, were there demanding religious freedom from this man, supposedly the very master of the subject.

Those are the members of the Western Shugden Society. Dorje Shugden is one of the many gods in the traditional Tibetan Buddhism. I can give you a longer story on this one when I get a chance to, but the short version is that Mr. Lama suddenly, in the 1990’s, probably out of a dream as usual, believed that Dorje Shugden was an evil god, which was “harmful” to both the Tibet independence movement and his own heath. In fact, it’s claimed that the god is pro-China. The practice of worshiping Dorje Shugden was thereafter banned by the Tibetan government in exile. Whoever refuse to abandon the god are hashly suppressed. Specially if they are Tibetans, their lives can be pretty miserable. I posted a video link on this subject made by the Swiss Public Television on YouTube and you are all encouraged to watch it. At this very same time Mr. Lama is selling “peaceful” hours around the world, he is being sued in India for religious suppression. We are more than interested to watch how this case develops in such an ironical world.

Update: This post:”Is the Dalai Lama a ‘religious dictator’?” on Challenging China-bashing provides a lot more details and references on this issue.

If you google this event, on most websites, if the protesters ever mentioned, the number would be over 100. If you read Chinese forums however, it’s 500. So, who is to believe? Simple. Let’s see, on 4/13, there was a big crowd of pro-China protesters in front of the Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Just by personal witness and the official counting released by the organizers, the number is easily above 10,000, probably approaching, 20,000. But if you read CBC and the kind, you find it was 3000. So, there’s quite a consistency here.

Who gets to say about the future of China?

I think the following diagram from Wikipedia says it all.

What have the “human rights” fighters in the west, particularly those originally from China, done in the same time?

Only one

with 2 comments

I wanted to stay away from the stories about Wang Qianyuan (what’s that about? Google it if you don’t know yet), because I don’t approve of what people did to her. Their angers are legitimate, but turning it into personal attacks is wrong and should be condemned. People should really just leave her alone.

But today I happened to stop by a very funny comment regarding this lady on some Chinese forum. The comment said: American hail, after 19 years of wait since 6.4, finally there came a second crowd, except, this time, we’ve got only one!

Something to think about. BTW, the comment was made about an NYT report on the incident.

Another interview of Mr. Jean-Luc Melenchon

leave a comment »

He said some very sharp words about the anti-Chinese protests in Paris on this interview.

I want to add that Britain attempted twice to occupy Tibet by military force and both failed. They then altered the strategy and started building a “friendly” relationship with Dalai Lama, and subsequently persuaded him to seek independence from China. This way, they hoped they could effectively grab the control of the region. In short, they attempted robbery first and when they failed, they stole. This was the seed of the entire Tibet problem. Tell me it’s not hypocrisy that now they want to “solve” the very problem they created under the name of “human rights”!

The video clip has been added into the this post. Many thanks to powertalks for the link.

CNN attempting the same old trick of alienating the Chinese government from the people

with 12 comments

It would have been a cunning move if it were 1989 or earlier.

Jack Cafferty, on CNN, uttered some sickening racism words exploding out his hatred toward China and Chinese by calling them “goons and thugs” a few days ago. This agitated strong public reactions against him and the news agency. Proposals such as boycotting all the products advertised on CNN were circulating among Chinese around the world on internet. It’s only ignorant and self-deceiving to believe that CNN was not feeling very nervous. Unwilling to face up the realities though, CNN published a short statement yesterday attempting to explain away the troubles by saying that Cafferty’s intention wasn’t targeting on the Chinese people, but the government.

Sadly, CNN, just as Mr. Cafferty, failed to realize that the world is no longer the same. Trying to alienate the government can no longer give them any gains but only further exposes their unspeakable political motivations. The result is to make more Chinese feel sickened and disgusted.

The Chinese government is not a power installed from outside. Despite all the lacks of human rights and democracy, the government still comes from the people. Whoever interested in politics in China gets a chance to try. And even if you are the Prime Minister, you have at most two terms, 10 years in total, to serve. Beyond that, you must step down according to the current Chinese Constitution. I suggest Mr. Cafferty and CNN apply this stupid trick on the Iraqi government instead, which would make a lot more sense.

Quite frankly, if you ask me, what CNN can do to get off the hook this time, I would say nothing. Really, the lies are through, the true face exposed, the motivations become manifest, the game is over, your credibility among us has evaporated into nothing.

Share holders of CNN would better start selling their shares slowly. Now that it can no longer serve as one of the most deceiving and efficient propaganda machines in Asia, its gloomy days are just ahead.

Dalie (Dalai Lama) received some “extra welcome” in Seattle

with 2 comments

Let me use his own phrase: “this is 21th century, lying can no longer work.” I sincerely wish this man start thinking about what he can do good rather than harm to his country in the very limited time during the rest of his life (except if you seriously believe he’s still got a next life!). Much more and larger pictures can be found here

Rumors stop at the wise

with 2 comments

The fame of France has been severely damaged recently due to the outrageous irrational racism anti-China rally during the Olympic torch relay in Paris. However terrible that was, we have to admit, this gentleman, Mr. Jean-Luc Melenchon is a brave man with integrity who finally stands up and speaks out for the truth. We should give him, and therefore France, the due credit and respect.
